WINE OF THE MONTH!
DR
VINO GOES DOWN SOUTH….
2003 CAIRANNE, BRUSSET
90
POINTS – TANZER!
$14.95 BTL./$155.00 CS.
STRAIGHT
FROM THE DIRT ROAD, this hearty blend of Syrah, Grenache
and other Rhone varietals is an earthy, meaty, smoky glassful
of REAL WINE, not fruit compote!!
Cairanne
is one of the best (if not THE best) Cotes du Rhone village. The
Domaine Brusset is the undisputed king of this appellation always creating
wines of great depth, color & amazing value. Our distributor just
lost this winery to a competitor & we scooped up 20 cases at a steal!
Dark, almost inky violet color. Enthralling spicy
aromas of blackberry, cassis, roasted coffee, candied plum
and rose pastille. Slow-building, concentrated and powerful,
showing a fleshy texture and a full range of red and dark berry
flavors that retain wonderful focus and precision. At once
weighty and bright, finishing with mounting spice and garrigue
notes. Better than all
but a handful of Gigondas & Chateauneuf du Papes. STOCK
UP & YOU CAN THANKS US LATER! $11.50 a bottle by
the case, this will go down as one of Best Deals ever I am
sure!!!!!!
CHIANTI, REAL CHIANTI!
2003 LA LASTRA CHIANTI
NOW
THAT’S
ITALIAN!
$9.95 BTL./$102.00 CS.
BETTER HURRY!! The last installment of our amazing
Chianti close-out for summer is here. They must have
been on a spiritual quest with this wine: they wanted to
literally bottle the source of all the gifts of Mother Nature
in their little piece of the Tuscan Hills. Incredible
rich, soft, full, peaking, delicious & about as good
as Chianti gets. You can taste the Tuscany flavor from
start to finish. We could imagine this enlivening anything
from a plate of Gorgonzola and dried figs on the deck to
Tandoori Chicken, serious red sauce BBQ to a big plate of
Mamma Vino’s Pasta!!

A SPANISH NO-BRAINER!
1999 MONTE TORO ‘Seleccion’ Crianza
$9.95 BTL./$119.40 CASE!
It has been 6 years, 11 months, 2 weeks & 5 days since
we had a DEAL that was this good! Not that I have been counting; I have
a life. Still, the time has not sped by. We revere the deals we
get on Bordeaux, we adore the half priced dessert wines we find, but a deal
from Toro is extra special, in a class of it’s own. We featured
this wine over 1 year ago for $17.95 per bottle & sold over 35 cases. The
importer has new a new vintage to pick up. So, what we get is a wine,
which while it can continue to be cellared for 6-8 more years, that it drinking
better than the forthcoming 2003 at less than half the price. THIS IS
A NO-BRAINER!
This from our original offering….We
are proud to be the Spanish Wine Headquarters of the West Coast! But,
EVEN we could never get the Monte Toro out of Spain. The Toro region
in Spain lies to the west of Ribera del Duero & produces some of the Richest
wines in all of Spain. This producer, Ramon Ramos Monte produces just
over 1,000 cases all from his own Tempranillo vineyards which are now just
over 75+ years. This estate cuts no corners; aged 14 months in New French oak
barrels, bottled unfined & unfiltered, and the yields are among the lowest
in the zone!
This is a great Cellar Protector for
enjoying over the next 6-8. Roasted black raspberry, dark
chocolate, mineral and smoky oak that is perfectly integrated. Lush & mouthfilling
but also sappy and vibrant. Finishes will extremely fine, soft tannins
and slow building persistence. This wine is a real crowdpleaser! The
finish is extremely rich, long & satisfying. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND
THIS TO THOSE OF YOU WHO LOVE SPANISH WINES & ESPECIALLY TO THOSE WHO WANT
TO BE INTRODUCED TO SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL!
Chateau de
la Terriere
2004 BEAUJOLAIS
VILLAGES,
(OLD VINE BEAUJOLAIS RULES!)
Our buddy,
Alex Cercie owner, winemaker & chief bottle-washer
at Chateau de la Terriere is a man of few (but well chosen)
words who let his Beaujolais speak for him. And THEY
speak the fabulous and mystical dialect of Gamay, from vineyards
over 80 years old adjacent to the Grand Cu site of Moulin a
Vent and you can tell, where incredibly rich textures set the
stage and beguilingly subtle perfumes of ripe black plums,
dark juicy cherries, & rose petals float overhead pointing
to the nuances of each vine. Open a bottle & let
the saga unfold in your glass! Ain’t nothing better
with a roasted chicken!! $9.95
BTL./$102.00 CS.(8.50)
"If you've never had a great Beaujolais...
this is it!
